About the company

Tropical Islands – Europe’s biggest tropical holiday world

The unique Tropical Islands project was created and launched by the Malaysian entrepreneur and businessman Colin Au. The idea: instead of transporting holiday makers to the Tropics, to transport the Tropics here!

Investors in the project are Au Leisure Investments Pte Ltd. from Singapore and the Tanjong Group England/Malaysia plc, a company based in Malaysia and listed on the UK stock exchange.

Tropical Islands first opened its doors to the public on December 19, 2004. More attractions, aimed particularly at children and families, were added at the end of 2006. During a second phase of expansion, at the beginning of 2007, a unique Tropical spa & sauna complex was added with an area of approximately 10,000 m2. This was another milestone within the overall product development process. The new additions now make Tropical Islands even more attractive for families, couples and single people, as well as for the over 50s. They also enhance Tropical Islands’ reputation throughout Europe. Tropical Islands now offers a broad section of the population outstanding opportunities for relaxation and active leisure time.

Managing director of Tropical Islands since November 1, 2005 is Ole Bested Hensing.

The vision: Europe’s leading holiday resort

Tropical Islands aims to work with its partners to become Europe’s leading holiday resort. Together with the nearby Spreewald area, it positions itself as a holiday destination for visitors from across Europe. Tropical Islands offers a wide range of facilities and services for recreation, health and relaxation, particularly for families and people on short breaks. Some 2,000 holiday homes are planned for the approximately 500 hectares of land around the Tropical Islands Dome. A campsite and hotel are also planned.

Tropical Islands is located on the A13 near the Staakow exit – close to both Berlin and Dresden.
