Everything you always wanted to know about Tropical Islands
Puzzled? Here you'll find the answers to some frequently asked questions.
Tropical Islands is a unique Tropical holiday world – the biggest in Europe.
Just 60 km south of Berlin, Tropical Islands is home to the world’s largest indoor rainforest, a complete Tropical Village with restaurants, shops and entertainment, white sandy beaches, a Balinese Lagoon and a Tropical Sea for bathing, plus Germany's highest water slide tower.
Tropical Islands also features Europe’s largest Tropical Sauna & Spa complex, offering deep relaxation for body and soul. Plus there's lots of sports activities, shows and entertainment – at a pleasant 26°C in the shade, all year round. And best of all, Tropical Islands is open 24 hours a day.
Summer clothes and light shoes are best for strolling around Tropical Islands. The temperature stays around 26°C. Maybe you would like to bring a change of clothes for dinner or sports?
Please note that bathing suits should only be worn on the beach and for swimming.
Yes, there are plenty of toilets at Tropical Islands. All our facilities and attractions are clearly marked on the big Tropical Islands Map.
That depends on how you want to spend your day. We suggest the following:
- More than one bathing suit and several towels
- Clothes to change into
- A beach ball, goggles, flippers, etc.
- Sunglasses, sun cream
- A camera
- Few smaller bags rather than one big piece of luggage
There are lockers for valuables directly opposite the main entrance to Tropical Islands, at the entrance to the changing area.
During the day it’s 26°C in the shade at Tropical Islands. That's slightly cooler than at a swimming pool, for example, because we want you to be able to enjoy discovering the Tropical Adventure World, dining in tropical style or wandering through the Rainforest. The water in the Tropical Sea is 28°C, the Bali Lagoon 32°C.
Once you’ve paid to get in to Tropical Islands, you can stay as long as you like – whether it’s two hours or three days! You can even stay a week or more and make the most of the beach and the great tropical atmosphere. (Please note that as of February 1, 2009, there will be an overnight charge of € 10 per person and night.)
The Tropical Islands tents and Lodges are two popular options for staying the night.
Check-in for tents is from 2.30 p.m. every day at the Tent Information Point. Tents are in strong demand so we recommend you book well in advance, ideally several weeks before your trip.
The Tropical Island Lodges each have a unique design and offer all the facilities needed for a comfortable night in the Tropics. The Lodges are also in strong demand and we recommend booking well in advance.
You can also stay outside the Dome at the Tropical Islands Campsite or in a holiday apartment or holiday home. We also offer hotel packages.
Another option is to simply sleep on the beach or on one of our sun loungers. The wooden sun loungers are quite hard, but for € 2 (plus a € 10 deposit) you can rent cushions. You can also bring your own cushions or blankets. (Please note that as of February 1, 2009, there will be an overnight charge of € 10 per person and night.)
The night-time temperatures are pleasantly tropical.
If you plan to spend the night by the Lagoon or Tropical Sea, please note that you may be disturbed occasionally by our cleaners.
Please note any special information or announcements displayed at the entrance to Tropical Islands.
On grounds of hygiene, guests are not permitted to bring their own food and drink – in particular strong alcohol – to Tropical Islands. The only exceptions are baby food (e.g. in jars and bottles) and food and drink for allergy sufferers.
Tropical Islands has been non-smoking since January 1, 2008. Smoking is only permitted on the first floor of the Thai House, the first floor of the Borneo Longhouse, in the Samoan Fale (after the evening show) and on the first floor of the Inipi Herbal Sweat Lodge in the Tropical Sauna & Spa complex.
Yes. There are a number of different ways to get a suntan at Tropical Islands. The transparent foil on the south roof of the Dome lets in about 80% of the sunlight. So if you’re exposed to the sunlight at the Tropical Sea, say, you will get a suntan – how much depends on the weather outside. Don’t forget to bring sun protection on cloudless days.
Or you visit the Solarium.
You don’t need your own tent at Tropical Islands – you can hire a tent when you get here. Alternatively you can sleep out under the tropical sky inside the Dome. All you need is a mat and a sleeping bag.
Since summer 2008 it’s also been possible to stay at the Tropical Islands Campsite close to the Dome in your own tent, caravan or mobile home.
