This weather-independent resort, open year-round, brings together the best of the world’s tropical regions. These include, among other things, the world’s largest indoor rainforest, the “Tropical Sea” and “Lagoon” swimming areas, and a tropical village featuring traditional architecture from Malaysia (Borneo), Indonesia (Bali), and Thailand.
Attractions include, for example, the world’s longest Double Racer water slide, the Tropical Islands AMAZONIA outdoor area—which is open year-round—and the tropical sauna area. In 2018 and 2022, two water play areas were added in each year. “Jungle Splash” offers 332 meters of sliding fun spread across eight different slides. And “Kraki Beach” has plenty of adventures in store for the youngest guests.
Guests who want to stay a few days longer can choose from a wide variety of lodging options. Right inside the hall, visitors will find about 200 comfortable rooms and lodges with approximately 540 beds, set amid the tropical landscape. The Rainforest Camp and the Sunset Camp offer an additional 140 tents with 390 beds. The Tropical Islands resort grounds also feature the Tropical Islands Campground, the vacation home area, and numerous recreational activities.
The dimensions of Tropical Islands are enormous: The dome is considered one of the largest self-supporting structures in the world. It measures 360 meters in length, 210 meters in width, and 107 meters in height.
The Statue of Liberty in New York could stand inside it, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris could lie down inside it. Its floor area of 66,000 square meters could accommodate 9 soccer fields. And the height of the dome offers enough space to fit the Potsdamer Platz skyline.
Since January 2019, Tropical Islands has been part of the Spanish group Parques Reunidos. Founded in 1993, the group operates water parks, zoos, and amusement parks. With over 60 parks worldwide—nearly 30 of them in Europe—it ranks among the largest investors in the theme and amusement park sector. According to its own figures, this “big player” welcomes 19.6 million visitors annually to its recreational facilities, generating revenue of approximately 579 million euros.
